BIO
Hmmm....it seems like these are always a little awkward to put together but hey, you clicked the button so I gotta have something for you to read. I'll try and keep it on the short side.
I was born
February 3, 1982 in Charlotte, NC. I'm the oldest of 4 brothers so let's just say my mom is pretty much outnumbered. We bounced around the U.S. quite a bit during my youth, which was rough sometimes, but on the other hand, we got to see plenty of landmarks and natural phenomena that the country has to offer.
By the time high school rolled around for me, I was pretty much tired of being transplanted
into different schools, but from that I learned how to adapt to new situations quickly. Though it seemed my situation was always changing quickly, my love for art was always there. I knew probably midway through high school that art was what I would study, and I stuck with it. I finished out high school in New Jersey in 2000, and despite my original intentions of leaving the Garden State as quickly as we came, I decided that I'd go to college in Jersey.
The fall of 2000, I found myself a young Freshman at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ. I picked Monmouth because the student art I saw on the campus was better than most other schools I'd seen, and the campus was the nicest to live on. Like everyone, I was excited to be out on my own and was ready to take my talents to the next level.
My four years there flew by. The days and nights were filled with plenty of hard work and good times and I loved it all. Whether I was up until all hours of the night working on a painting or a design project, or hanging out in the fraternity house, the experience I made was a great one.
These days I've been fortunate enough to stay local after college which worked out nice because I liked the area so much.
I ended up cutting my teeth as an intern for Group C Communications in Tinton Falls, NJ for a few months. Now called Group C Media, they publish a few magazines, so I started off working in print design.
After graduation, I found myself on the job hunt like everyone else, but a few months later I got a call from Group C and took a job. Over the next 4 years, I designed just about anything. Logos, promos, signage, magazine layouts, magazine covers, ads, and even got to design an entire identity for a trade show from the ground up. At the end of my four years there I had an insane collection of work, and my print design chops were very legit.
After that, I got a job at an interactive design studio called Primal Stare. For the next year and a half, I was thrown into a mix of web design, animation, and all things interactive. Many late nights and crazy hours ensued over that year and a half, but I was able to work with some of the most talented people around, for some very big name clients. Who knows? Down the road I may end up back there, but for right now, it's not in the cards.
At this point, you're getting tired of reading and I'm getting tired of typing. Right now, I'm trying to get some freelance going while I'm on the job hunt. The goal is obviously to get picked up full time somewhere I will enjoy as much as Primal Stare, and then I'll keep the freelance projects on the side. Maybe this will become an official company one day, I don't know. For now I'm taking it day by day, and doing the work that comes my way.
